3:20 pm - Family

It’s sad when you have a family member that is struggling and there is nothing you can do about it.  It’s even more hard when you have family members that could help out but don’t.

I can fully admit that yes, I spent some pretty big money on a gift for my husband for Christmas (a new phone), however he is going to give his old one that is maybe a year old to the family member that is struggling.  Countless times when her van was broken down she always knew to call us and we would instantly drive the 4 hours so that Steve could fix it, she wouldn’t have called anyone else because 1. They would have said “I’m sorry that really sucks” and 2. Because she will only allow Steve to work on her van after all the crap that other people have done to it to only make it worse.

I just don’t understand family sometimes…while I would never say not to give to others, I think it best to first look in the family.

3:40 pm - 2 year Anniversary

Well it’s been two wonderful married years.  I can’t believe it has gone by so fast.  I’m still in love with Steve like it was the first day; I didn’t think I believed in soul mates but having Steve in my life has changed everything.

10:08 am - Funny Now But Not Funny at the Time

Here is how it went:

On my way home from work I stop by Winn Dixie to get some candy for the trick or treater’s and items for a special dinner I was going to make for Steve.

I get home take the dogs outside come back in and open all the candy I bought (1 bag of fun size Snickers, 1 bag of fun size BabyRuths, 1 bag Tootsie pops, and 2 bags of Tootsie Rolls) and place it in a big bowl.  Pre-heat the oven…

Steve comes in the door, I tell him I’m making him a surprise dinner so he doesn’t look and heads directly outside to have a smoke.

I place the special dinner in the oven, pick up the bowl of candy and head outside to show off the candy and have a smoke.  We talk about our day, finish our smokes and head back inside.

I sit on the bed, place my laptop in my lap and double click on Rune (took a total of 3 minutes from the time we came inside).

Jackie: “Oh honey I left the candy bowl outside can you please get it.”

Steve: Gets up and goes to get the bowl.

Jackie: hears the door slam loudly behind Steve as he comes back inside

Steve: “Freaking Kids!”

Jackie: “What happen?”

Steve: “Well I went out there to get it and there was candy spilled all over the ground and after I picked it all up and placed in back in the bowl there is only a handful of candy left”

Jackie: “WHAT?” YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! *I get up to go look* “OMG they took all the Snickers, BabyRuths, and Tootsie Pops!” *My eyes began to tear up*

Steve: “I know I can’t believe they would do that!”

Jackie: “I am so pissed, I should have just done what everyone else in this neighborhood did, just come home keep the lights off and watch TV! Did you see them?”

Steve: “I saw them running across to the other side of the street.”

So that is the story, Steve went outside about every 20 minutes to see the kids and he did spot them but they didn’t even try to come close to our house and ran into their house which is RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM OURS!

We told this story to a friend of ours, who is older than we are (in his late 30’s early 40’s) and he said “times have really changed”.  All I can think is yes for him they have REALLY changed but Steve and I are still in our 20’s and this is what it is like now, I can’t imagine what kids will be like once we are in our 40’s…hell the trick or treaters will probably brake into the house to get the candy!  All I know is that my kids (future) will never do that, which is the main problem now and day SOME parents just don’t teach kids how to respect things even little things like trick or treating!

Don’t tell us you understand because you don’t

Don’t tell us we are still young and have our life ahead of us

Don’t tell us that you have been there before because we know you haven’t

Don’t tell us to have hope

Don’t tell us that everything happens for a reason

I have waited so far at the very least 15 years for a reason as to why my sister’s life is the way it is and so far I haven’t seen anything.

I am of the generation “NOW” and I mean “RIGHT NOW” and yet I’ve never gotten anything that way.

I can’t fathom the reasoning behind this, I do try to have hope and think to myself “Well God has a purpose for all of us and I guess this wasn’t in His plans”, but my thought process is slowing moving to “I DON’T GIVE A SHIT”!

I know others have it worse but right now, it doesn’t get any worse for US.

We have always been responsible, we don’t have extravagant things; we don’t go out… we are responsible.

Run away, that wouldn’t be responsible…perhaps we should be like George on the episode of Seinfeld where he did the complete opposite of what he would always do…Yeah, that sounds like a good idea!  Let’s run far away where no one can find us or call us every freaking hour; asking for something we could never give.

Hope, yeah right; screw it.

You kick me in the face

You break my heart

You steal my dreams

You depress me

You make me sick

You hurt my head

You push me in front of traffic

You ruin my humor

You take my happiness

You make it rain

9:58 am

I have figured out what I would say when asked the question “If you could change one thing in your life what would it be.”  Now I often thought it would be to have not went to IADT so that I wouldn’t have the student loans that I have now, but if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have met my husband, so that is out.  After having received an email from my friend Trinity and what she was talking about now I realized that the answer to the question would be “I would have saved all the money that I earned while living with my parents.”  So many younger people now want to get jobs, but I don’t really see why other than to spend it on crap.  I say that if you are younger and you do have a job to work part time and save it up, one day you will be so grateful you did!

11:07 am - Get Tips and Tricks

Reheat Pizza

Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm.  This keeps the crust crispy; no soggy micro pizza!

Easy Deviled Eggs

Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag.  Seal and mash till they are all broken up.  Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip on one side of the bottom of the bag, squeeze mixture into egg (just like a pastry bag!).  Just throw bag away when done easy clean up!

Expanding Frosting

When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes.  You can double it in size!  You can frost more with the same amount; also you will eat less sugar/calories per serving.

Reheating Refrigerated Bread

To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water.  The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

Measuring Cups

Before you pour sticky substance into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water.  Dump out the hot water, but don’t dry the cup.  Next, add your ingredient (i.e. peanut butter) and watch how easily it comes right out!

Newspaper Keeps Weeds Away

Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in soil.  Wet newspaper put layer around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds.  Weeds will get through some gardening plastic, but they will not get through wet newspapers.

Squirrel Away

To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper.  The cayenne pepper doesn’t hurt the plant and the squirrels won’t cone near it!

Thank You Cards

When you throw a bridal/baby shower, buy a pack of thank you cards for the guest of honor.  During the party, pass out the envelopes and have everyone put their address on one.  When the bride/new mom sends the thank you cards they’re all addressed.

Keep the Bike Yours

If you purchase a new bike for your child place their picture in the handle bar before placing the grips on.  If the bike is stolen and later recovered, remove the grip and there is your proof who owns the bike!

Flexible Vacuum

To suck up something that is hard to reach (i.e. under the refrigerator) add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum.  It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling

Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress.  Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose.  Place pin in seam of slacks and voila static is gone

Foggy Windshield

Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car.  When the windows fog, rub with the eraser!  Works better than a cloth!

Reopening Envelope

If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two.  Voila Its unseals easily!

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs.  It’s a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth.  It’s also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn’t like when you tried it in your hair.

Get Rid of Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants.  They eat it, take it home, and can’t digest it so it kills them.  It may take a week or so especially if it rains, but it works and you don’t have to worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Baby Powder and the Beach

Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag.  When you’re ready to leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder and the sand will slide right off your skin.

2:03 pm - MY Movie Review

Silent Hill:
I watched this movie last night and wow, did it suck the big one! I have always been a fan of horror movies, but lately it seems as if they are just not as good as the use to be; maybe I’m growing out of them or perhaps its that producers and writers are more focused on effects and leave the story line out of it. The Story Line: The basics of this movie was that a husband and wife adopted a child that has bad dreams, sleep walks and upon waking always says something about Silent Hill. The movie starts off with the husband and wife at a hotel and the wife screaming and running in the woods to find adopted daughter; she finds her at the top of a rocky waterfall just about to fall in but quickly grabs her. Both the mother and father are desperate to find out what is wrong with there adopted daughter (who looks to be about 8-10 years old). The father wants to put her back on the medication she was on, but the mother decides to take a different road and brings the daughter to the now ghost town of Silent Hill (which by the way is in Virginia, have you noticed that Virginia always has the creepy weird towns? Remember “Wrong Turn”). On the way there the mother gets into an accident and when she wakes she finds that her daughter is gone. They got into the accident just outside of the town so of course she walks right in and notes the ashes that are falling out of the sky. She’s looking and looking and see whom appears to be her daughter and follows her into an ally that goes into a basement like thing and as she is going down the steps an alarm goes off; much like something you would here if a tornado was coming. Everything goes dark and all she as to light her way is a Zipo (which lasts quite awhile) then all these weird burning creatures start coming at her and she is screaming and running, then she passes out and everything is normal again. It goes on like this for well into an hour, stating to get on my nervous. See I’m now even board talking about it bottom like is the ending sucked because the story line was really stupid. I of course never tell people not to watch something because everyone has there own opinion and they may like it, but I didn’t.

X-Men: The Last Stand:
What can I say? I have always been a fan of all the X-Men movies, never read the comic books but I did watch the cartoon. I loved the whole movie, it was sad though so many of them killed off, or cured. Jean Grey is a psycho hoes beast who by the way is NOT a Phoenix but has always been a class five mutant that Xavier used mind blocking on to control her multiple personality which is called The Phoenix (really sucked that she was a psycho hoes beast but man they did a good job on having her do some cool stuff and changing her look). The fact that Cyclops dies, Xavier dies, Mystique is cured, Rogue is cured, Magneto is cured (or is he?) and finally the final death of Jean Grey. All and all it was a really good movie that I will probably watch over and over again.

3:40 pm - Are you a horn honker?
In 2001 I was involved in a really bad accident in which I was T’boned (hit the drivers side and I was the driver). I crossed 6 lanes of on coming traffic and ended up in the woods. I had automatic seatbelts which broke and my seat went from its normal size to about 8 inches wide. I don’t remember the accident, who called 911, or who got me out of the car which I’m assuming was through the window or the passenger side door (the driver side door was smashed and not able to be open) or the ambulance ride to hospital. I don’t remember asking the same questions over and over again and I was unaware of my surroundings. I found out later that I had a concussion, fluid in my spin and was very lucky to have survived an accident of that magnitude. I’m pretty sure the accident was my fault, I guess I thought I could make it to the median before that car would get to me but I was wrong. Since then I have become a more shielding driver and I still get jumpy when I hear squealing tires or honking horns.

So what’s the point?

While sitting on the off ramp from 408 going onto Pine Hills road I was honked at by the driver behind me, who felt as if I could have pulled out into traffic.

My point to everyone is this: just because it may seem (in your eyes) safe for a person to pull out in traffic, remember that you don’t know how someone else’s car works nor do you know what feels safe for another person.

So be patient and courteous to other drivers that are trying to protect their own lives.

3:36 pm - Sprint-No Techs on Sunday
So while sitting here my cell phone rings, I look at the display and do not recognize the number, but then I again I barley recognize any number why? Because I just bought this phone about 3 weeks ago and have yet been able to get my numbers from my old cell phone to my new why?

My first attempt Saturday Night:

Walk into the Sprint store observations:
No one standing at the sign-in counter
No one in the back area where you go to talk about fixing things
Two sales people in the room (3 Standing outside talking)
The two sales people are busy talking to customers
Three other customers walking around waiting
20 minutes later no one has looked at me or any other customer for that matter
I leave

My second attempt Sunday afternoon:

Walk into Sprint store
Wait in line to sign in
Lady in front of me is asking a lot of questions
I’m up to sign in, Sprint guy asks what I need today I tell him I need to transfer numbers from my old cell to my new cell
Sprint guy “Oh I’m sorry but we no longer have techs working on Sundays”.
We leave

At this point I know if I do it myself it will take less time, but…who has the time for that?

My biggest problem with Sprint is that they are never staffed to handle the amount of people that come into their stores.

Which is why I know this: They no longer have techs on Sunday because they are losing so much business on the people that walk out because they don’t have enough staff.

8:40 am - Yesterday
Steve and I were standing outside having a smoke. He had just gotten home from work and since I had already been home for about 20 minutes I had been lying on the couch. So we are outside talking and I start yawning, I did it like three times. I realize that I yawned three times and Steve never yawned once! I just thought that was so odd yet cool at the same time, odd because it is a known fact that yawns are contagious and cool because that is just one more thing I can add to my list that Steve does that most people in this world don’t.

4:00 pm - Just thinking...
“You get want you pay for” I don’t know who said that but as I progress through life I have found this to almost always be true. Now granted there have been a few times (not many) that I have purchased something at a low price or from a store that doesn’t really specialize in the item and it still works to this day.

“Just because it looks nice doesn’t mean it has the same functionality” I say this…I really learned this today. I’m sure a lot of people do this very thing…something looks really good i.e. furniture, computer cases, flooring and so on. Well today I found this stapler sitting on my filing cabinets. Now I already have a stapler but it’s just the ordinary black, metal stapler whereas the one on the filing cabinet is a cool rubber gripped, yellow and black, sits vertically one. Don’t know who left it there or why but it’s mine now. So I guess throughout the day I staple a lot more then I thought…So here I am got my new cool stapler in hand and I’m stapling away, but wait why the hell does it stick every time I staple something, it’s taking me twice a long to do it will the cool one the it would if I were to use the regular, bland stapler…moral of the story? I think you know.

12:35 pm - Remembering

I remember him sitting in the back of the class, I remember wearing my skirt and needing to fix my boots.  We had every class together…

He smoked Newport’s and he smoked in front of the school…I smoked Virginia Slims in the back.

I remember the first time I got in his truck to go to McDonalds to get some food.  I wasn’t really hungry, and can’t even remember if I got anything.  We went for other people in school too.  I was so nervous…even thinking about it now makes butterflies in my stomach.  There wasn’t a lot of room since our backpacks were both really full of school stuff.  Of course his backpack was a lot fuller than mine; that was just how he was and who he is.  We talked and he told me about all the cool stuff he installed in his truck.  I don’t know if I knew then that I would fall so hard for him but the bass from his speaker was a sure sign we would get along swimmingly!

I remember building my first computer.  Everyone in class knew he was the smartest so we all asked him questions; he always answered my questions first. I brought in my computer from home to use the parts in my newly built computer, I needed help, don’t get me wrong I learned a lot in class but having him help me was a lot better than guessing.  He stayed with me well after the class was over explaining where things went and how they worked in the computer.  We walked to our next class together we were late…

I remember the time we went to Denny’s we ate our food and talked for a long time.  We talked about relationships and how the world worked.  He was so funny, and I could talk to him about anything and not feel judged.  When we finished our food we talked some more but it was time to go…we walked back to our vehicles…did we kiss?  No, but I know I really wanted to.

I remember talking to him on the phone for hours, I wished every time that we were talking face to face but at least I could hear his voice.  We talked about everything and anything…he was so smart, always was able to tell me how things worked and I could ask him things and he would never make me feel stupid when he answered them, even if it were a dumb questions.

I remember speech class our legs touched and my heart was in the throat butterflies in my stomach.  What a beautiful smirk that passed his face.

I remember talking to everyone in the circle as we always did during breaks at school…he said and I just knew everyone heard him “I just want to kiss you” again my heart was in my throat butterflies in my stomach.

I remember the night I needed help with my computer.  I just got about 5 or 6 kittens that someone was fostering but they were going out of town and needed someone to watch them so I took them.  He came over to help with the computer, we got to playing with the kittens…computer never got fixed but was there anything wrong with it?

I remember the lake…you let me sleep…I was so sun burned, bruised and beaten.

I remember our wedding…our first kiss as husband and wife.

I remember the honeymoon…We were so tired from the wedding.  We ate a $20 pizza.  We sat on the balcony.  I feel off the bed.  We packed up and returned you tux…went to park at the mall, went back to the tux place for your million dollar bill.  Found a new hotel…ate cheese and crackers for dinner.  Got in the heart shaped hot tub.  Went swimming in the pool.  Watched fireworks.  Left for Tallahassee

I remember our first puppy

I remember my sister moving in…he said “I understand what ever I can do to help”

I remember the cruise…he got it for an anniversary gift

I remember our first anniversary…

I remember our second puppy

I can’t wait for more memories…perhaps if I log them quicker I will remember them better.

9:30 am - Funny Story
So this lady calls this morning, well I always have my phone forwarded to the temp Natlie that I supervise…so she answers the phone and here is how the conversation goes:

Natlie: Thank you for calling the Club how can I help you?
Lady: Is this Jackie?
Natlie: No, this is Natlie how can I help you?
Lady: I need to speak to Jackie.
Natlie: Who is speaking?
Lady: (don’t know if she said her name)
Natlie: What is this in regards to?
Lady: It’s personal

So Natlie transfers it to me

Me: This is Jackie
Lady: This is Victor Porans wife (very bitchy voice)
Me: Okay, am I supposed to know that name?
Lady: Is there another Jackie that works in that office?
Me: Yes.
Lady: Can I speak with her?
Me: What is this in regards to?
Lady: It’s personal

So I get up and go talk to Pam which for right now is Jackie’s (who is a temp) supervisor. I tell her the story and she is kind of in “ah” she told me she wouldn’t be in until later.

Me: She won’t be in until later today
Lady: You guys are located on West Colonial Dr. Right?
Me: Yeah
Lady: Thank you.

And that is the end of the conversation. So of course I go back to Pam and let her know that I think this lady is going to come here and put a hurting on Jackie.

So this is what I’m pretty sure happened. About 2 weeks ago we had some guys in the office wiring the new fire alarm system. I remember someone telling me that Jackie was going to lunch with one of them pretty often…SO I guess he never told her that he was married!!

What a start to a day!

2:12 pm - It should have been us
I remember last year during this time, the weather forecasters saying that we could expect more of the same this year. Well in my small mind I was thinking they just meant Florida (why would a hurricane go any where else). I will be honest in saying I would like a hurricane to come straight in at us…only because I am a freak and love storms of any kind, but I definitely feel bad for the folks in LA. You are told that you have a last resort shelter to go to and in going there you have to wait for 2 to 3 hours just to get in but while in the process of waiting the hurricane is still coming at you. So now you get to wait in the rain, once you have done all that and the hurricane has arrived the roof starts to peel off…damn if only I could have been there (I know, I know I’m a sick girl!)
